Fernando Trias is a startup founder and executive with experience in computer security, finance and both consumer and medical devices. Born in Spain and a US citizen, he recently began splitting his time between Barcelona, Boston and Miami.

Currently, he is consulting with two Boston-based medical device manufacturers helping them with requirements rationalization, data collection and analysis, cloud strategy, algorithms, embedded C programming and FDA validation. At Third Pole, he also assisted in investor relations, resulting in an additional $25 million in VC funding.

As a co-founder of Pedestal Software (acquired by Altiris, then Symantec, now Broadcom), raised $20 million in capital over two rounds. He led the development of their flagship product SecurityExpressions, which provided security configuration and auditing for multi-platform globally distributed networks. Clients included numerous Fortune 500 companies and national militaries. He served as CEO, VP of Engineering and VP of Product Strategy.

As COO of PAES (acquired by Trilinc Global), he led development of their strategic financial analytics platform that allowed multinational banks and governments to assess the financial viability of regional microfinance institutions in developing countries throughout Latin America, thereby reducing risk and improving profitability. PAES was funded through angel investments, government grants and a Dubai-based hedge fund.

As CTO of Equiso, he helped raised $1.8 million, enabling the company to sell their media player in all Walmarts in the US, which made it attractive to private equity, which later acquied the company. Development was in the US, India and China.

As CEO of Vindor Music, Fernando raised $300K in Kickstarter and angel funding while collaborating with musicians and educators to develop a low-cost electronic saxophone suitable for beginners and professionals. To keep costs low while maintaining quality, Vindor used a distributed team of engineers and suppliers from China, Mexico and the US.

Over 25+ years, he has worked with hundreds of startups and collaborated with MassChallenge as judge and mentor for US and international startups. He has a BBA in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami and a Master of Liberal Arts from Harvard University.
